The Berlin actor and entertainer Harald Juhnke is to be recognized 20 years after his death with a place on Kurfürstendamm. The factions of the CDU, Greens, the SPD and FDP in the district parliament of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf are strong for this. In a joint urgency application to the district council, you are committed to naming the space on the Ku'damm/Uhlandstrasse/Grolmanstrasse street corner to the entertainer.
The place is a much frequented meeting point for passers-by and a striking location in the heart of the district-just a few steps away from the Ku'damm stages, on which Juhnke had numerous appearances, the application of the application, which is available to the German Press Agency.
Juhnke's day of death marks the 20th time
“Since Harald Juhnke's 20th anniversary of death is imminent April 1, 2025, this is a particularly worthy occasion to honor his memory,” argue the district deputies. “A corresponding name would meet his life's work and appropriately appreciate his memory in Berlin, the city of his heart.” The long -time manager Juhnkes and representative of the family, Peter Wolf, said: “This summary in front of Harald Juhnke touches his widow Susanne and his son Oliver Tief.”
The BFFS actor union also welcomed the advance of the four factions on the initiative of the FDP. “Our great acting colleague has long earned such an honor and is an overdue gift to the many-not only Berlin-people in this country who loved and still love him for his art,” said board member Hans-Werner Meyer.
Juhnke is still considered one of the largest entertainers in Germany. He was born in the city of Charlottenburg in 1929. For around five decades, he was one of the formative figures in the entertainment industry in theater and German television. He was closely connected to the west of Berlin, where he celebrated success at the Theater am Kurfürstendamm. After ongoing alcohol problems, he fell ill and died on April 1, 2005 at the age of 75.
The FDP in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf made a similar application in autumn 2022. In it, she suggested renaming Joachimsthaler Platz at the Kurfürstendamm/Joachimsthaler Straße intersection into Harald-Juhnke-Platz.
At the time, however, there was no necessary majority when it comes to voting. The new, cross -party application is expected to be advised and coordinated at the next meeting of the district assembly on Thursday.
