8 Fun Ways To Decorate Your Photos With Washi Tape

You’re probably familiar with washi tape, that wonderful Japanese decorative tape made out of washi paper and designed in numerous adorable patterns and colors. But did you know that you can use this tap teo decorate photos, too? It can turn boring snaps into creative works of art that don’t just look good on your desk—they make great additions to collages or party decorations! Let’s take a look at 8 fun ways to decorate your photos with washi tape…

1) Decorate The Corners Of Your Photos

Washi tape is a fun way to decorate your photos and make them your own. You can easily print your own washi tape or buy it in store. Start by cutting the desired length of washi tape, then cut a small slit on each end of the strip. Wrap one end around the corner and push it into the slit, then wrap the other end around the corner and push it into its respective slit.

2) Create A Border Around Your Photo

The best way to print your own washi tape is by using a plotter, which is a very expensive tool. If you are looking for something less expensive, you can use the plotter at your local library or purchase a small hand-held plotter. Once you have your prints, all that’s left is to cut them out and start decorating! Some ideas would be:

1) Attach them around the edge of the photo frame.

2) Cut strips of washi tape and place them vertically down one side of the photo. 

3) Make triangle shapes from one long strip of washi tape by cutting off the top pointy end, then attach it in an overlapping manner down one side of the photo.

3) Use Washi Tape To Create A Frame For Your Photo

If you’re looking for a fun way to spice up your photos, try print your own washi tape and decorating the photo with it. This is a great option if you want something more personal than premade frames from the store. Plus, it’s super easy and inexpensive. Here’s how: 

1. Print out your desired washi design onto regular printer paper or cardstock onto a laser printer or copier that can print in black and white (make sure there are no color ink cartridges installed) 

2. Cut out the design using scissors 

3. Attach the cut-out design onto your favorite photo

4) Stick Washi Tape Directly On Your Photo

1. Place the washi tape on your desk and take a picture of it. 2. Cut the washi tape into shapes or letters and place them on top of the photo, then photograph the scene from different angles. 3. Take a photo of your favorite book/magazine and cut out interesting shapes from it and stick them onto your photo with washi tape. 4. Place some washi tape on a transparent surface, such as glass or plastic, then take a picture of it in different lighting conditions (in daylight, under artificial light). 5. Cut out shapes or letters from paper or magazine pages and use them as stickers for photos you’ve taken outdoors – just make sure to let them dry first!

5) Write A Message With Washi Tape On Your Photo

1. Try adding some washi tape around the border of your photo. It’s a great way to add another pop of color or pattern without having it be too overpowering in the picture. Plus, it helps make the image more lively!

2) Put a strip down the middle of your photo for some simple decoration that still makes an impact on the photo. This is a great option if you want something subtle but still want it included in your design!

7) Decorate The Back Of Your Photo

I have been obsessed with washi tape since I found some in the scrapbooking section of a craft store years ago. It’s an inexpensive way to decorate and add personality to your photos. All you need is a photo and some colorful washi tape! 

1. Make a frame out of washi tape by creating two vertical lines, then wrapping around the photo from the top left corner down, around again, up on the right side, then back down to the bottom left corner. Leave about one inch at each end for taping. 

2. Wrap one strip of washi tape vertically down from just below your photo (about halfway) and wrap it around the bottom edge of your photo so that it sticks out on both sides.

8) Get Creative!

1. Cut strips of washi tape in various lengths and widths and place them on your nails as you would polish. 

2. Place a strip of washi tape down the center of your nail bed and cover it with a strip that is perpendicular to it. 

3. Cut small pieces of washi tape so they are skinny, and place them at an angle on top of each other near the tip of your nail, starting from the middle outwards like rays from a sun or flower petals radiating from the center. 

4. Place one long piece of washi tape along the entire length of your nail bed (from base to tip) so that the adhesive side is facing up – this can then be wrapped around your finger like a ring band!
