If there is just a tick in a WhatsApp message, some people wonder what that means. We clarify.
WhatsApp informs you about the delivery status of your messages using checkmarks. The service differentiates between three types of symbols.
A tick next to WhatsApp message: This is what it means
A single tick next to a message signals that the transmission to the WhatsApp server was successful, but the recipient's device has not yet received the message. If this condition persists for a longer period of time, it can be assumed that the recipient's cell phone is not switched on or is in airplane mode.
It is also conceivable that the person contacted has poor reception and therefore the message could not be forwarded to the WhatsApp server. This is also the reason why the contact sometimes appears online, but only a gray tick is visible next to the message.
Have I been blocked on WhatsApp?
A single tick can also be an indication that the recipient of the message has blocked you in WhatsApp. WhatsApp does not immediately indicate a block. But if only one checkmark appears next to your message for several days, that's a strong indication. Because it is unlikely that people will be offline continuously for such a long period of time.
Another indication of a blocking can be the sudden disappearance of the profile picture. As a blocked person, you also have no access to information about when the other person was last online, as well as their status photos and videos.
However, if the symbol with two gray checkmarks appears, the message has successfully arrived on the recipient's smartphone. However, even in this case there is no guarantee that the recipient has already read the message. This is only the case when the hooks turn blue. This bookmark can also be deactivated.
