At the beginning of the year, the Germany ticket has become 8 euros more expensive. Nevertheless, there is a way to use the monthly ticket for nationwide local transport cheaper. The trick is to book the ticket for a few days at the end of the month. This is possible via the HVV Switch app (via “Bild”).
If you buy the ticket through the Hamburg Transport Association (HVV), it applies nationwide and costs only 1.94 euros a day. For example, from April 28th to 30th you can travel through Germany for a total of 5.82 euros.
How to use the cheap Germany ticket: step by step
To apply this trick, you must download and install the HVV Switch app. Create a user account and store a means of payment. On the order page of the Germany ticket, select the desired start date and book the ticket.
Save the ticket in the wallet of your smartphone and immediately cancel it under “Manage booking”. The termination must take place by the 10th day of the month at the latest, in which the ticket should be valid in order to avoid an extension of the subscription. How long the offer will work is not yet known.
