Karan Malhotra is an Indian film director, writer, and screenwriter. He is known for directing the Hindi film ‘Agneepath’ (2012) starring Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra, and Sanjay Dutt.

Career
Karan started his career as a cinematographer in the early 1990s. In 2000, he made his debut as an assistant director with the Hindi film ‘Pukar.’ Some of his other Hindi films as an assistant director are ‘Lajja’ (2001), ‘Main Hoon Na’ (2004), ‘Jodhaa Akbar’ (2008), and ‘My Name Is Khan’ (2010). He made his debut as a director and screenwriter with the Hindi film ‘Agneepath’ (2012) for which he won Zee Cine Award for Special Award Power-Club Box Office. He has worked as a director in many Hindi films like ‘Brothers’ (2015) and ‘Shamshera’ (2022).
In 2016, he started working on the Hindi film ‘Shuddhi.’ The film was an adaptation of the book “The Immortals of Meluha” by Amish Tripathi. The makers of the film faced various problems in selecting the cast of the film. Later, the film got shelved.

Facts/Trivia
- In 2022, his Hindi film ‘Shamshera’ was released which turned out to be a flop at the box office. On 27 July 2022, he shared an Instagram post about his film’s failure.
During an interview, when he was asked about his experience of working with the Indian producer Aditya Chopra, he said,
My first instinct was that I’m gonna have a blast working with him. He is a producer who owns his films, whether they do well or don’t do well. He is standing by them and that is the most important thing. It’s a great value to have. He’s a great producer to have if you’re a director.”
