MIn view of the Netflix documentation about Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, the choice of motif could almost be considered a statement: Harry’s older brother Prince William and his wife Princess Kate published the motif for their annual Christmas card on Wednesday evening. The couple with their three children shows themselves casually. Kate and William wear jeans and sneakers, George, Charlotte and Louis wear shorts. The children run between their parents, they hold hands – as if nothing could come between the family of the British heir to the throne.
“We’re sharing a new photo of the family for this year’s Christmas card,” the caption read simply on Twitter and Instagram. Photographer Matt Porteous took the picture at the royal country estate of Sandringham House in the English county of Norfolk. It is here that the Prince and Princess of Wales have their country residence, Anmer Hall. It is not known when exactly the photo was taken – but apparently it was a little warmer.
Charles at the Highland Games
On Sunday, the British King Charles III. and his wife Camilla published the motif of their Christmas card. It shows the monarch in a tweed jacket and colorful striped tie. Queen Camilla beams at him wearing a green suit and matching hat with a pheasant motif. The picture was taken on September 3rd during the Highland Games in Braemar, Scotland. Charles was heir to the throne at the time. His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, died five days later at Balmoral Castle, just a few miles from Braemar.
Prince William’s younger brother Harry is currently making headlines again with his wife Duchess Meghan. The couple, who retired from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California, released the first three episodes of a documentary on Netflix last Thursday, with the final episodes set to follow this Thursday.
British Newspaper: “Harry’s War on Will”
Part one fell far short of the expected all-round impact. The first glimpses of the sequel make us fear more. As Harry says in the trailer, looking at William, “You were willing to lie to protect my brother. But they were never willing to tell the truth to protect us.” And Meghan emphasizes: “I wasn’t thrown to the wolves, I was fed to them.” Above all, who is meant by “they” is discussed royalty or the media. The English word “they” leaves a lot of leeway. But the short clip is already enough for many.
The Times newspaper called the trailer for the second part of the Netflix documentary about the couple “seditious.” The tabloid “Sun” headlined on Tuesday with regard to the conflict with brother Prince William: “Harry’s war against Will”. In a survey by the opinion research institute Yougov, which was conducted around the first part of “Harry and Meghan” and has now been published, the popularity of the two continued to fall.
It is widely believed that there will be no royal family return for the couple after the documentary. In any case, they had already resigned their honorary titles and patronages when they gave up their royal duties. But they were considered members of the family’s inner circle. Many commentators in Great Britain no longer see a chance for this. “This is certainly the beginning of the end of his relationship with William,” the Sun wrote of Harry.
The 38-year-old is accused of stabbing his family in the back and soiling the memory of his grandmother. There are already rumors that the palace could retaliate by leaking a report to the media about allegations of bullying by employees against Meghan.
Only a third of Britons still have a positive opinion of Harry, who twice served for his country in Afghanistan, according to the poll. On the other hand, 59 percent think negatively about him. The net result fell by 13 points to minus 26 compared to the previous survey in mid-November. Only a quarter of Britons see Meghan positively.
