Sedgwick has announced the appointment of Tom Simoncic (pictured above) as president of its property and international business after serving as the company’s president of property for the Americas for the past seven years.
Simoncic is a three-decade industry veteran whose experience spans all areas of the insurance business, including third-party administration (TPA), marine, forensics and repair. He joined Sedgwick through an acquisition and became leader of the property lines business in the Americas, responsible for guiding the strategic direction and delivery of services to clients in the US, Canada, and Latin America.
In his new role, Simoncic will leverage this experience and his knowledge of global claims management and catastrophe response to oversee more than 10,000 colleagues across the global property and international business.
“Our international business has grown significantly over the past five years under Ian’s leadership, with a strong pipeline in place for continued success in 2023 and beyond,” said Sedgwick CEO Mike Arbour. “I look forward to Tom leading the ongoing growth of our operations around the world, including further expansion of the Sedgwick global footprint.”
“Aligning our global property and international businesses under Tom’s leadership unites the resources of our teams across geographies, time zones and cultures,” added Jim Ryan, Sedgwick’s chief operating officer. “His experience forging deep relationships with partners and his proven excellence leading the Canadian, Latin American and U.S. markets will ensure Sedgwick’s global network continues to expand. I’m confident he will maintain and inspire the level of care and personal attention that defines our customer experience.”
Simoncic’s appointment reflects Sedgwick’s commitment to delivering service bolstered by global resources and local expertise, the company said in a press release.
In the same release, Sedgwick also announced that international chief executive officer Ian Muress will be retiring on March 31, following a successful 45-year career.
