There are currently nine ranks in Valorant’s ranking system. They start with Iron and end in Radiant. Except Radiant, all Valorant rank levels have three sub-ranks. Radiant ranks are the lowest and highest. If you do not include Unranked, there are 25 Valorant ranks within Riot Games’ tactical shoter.
Radiant rank will be awarded to the 500 best players in each region, while Immortal rank will be granted to the top 1% of the region’s players. This is where you want to set up shop.
HOW TO UNLOCK A VALORANT RANKED
We have bad news for those who want to jump into Valorant’s ranked modes as soon as their game has been installed.
To unlock Valorant’s competitive modes, you must first reach account level 20. This will give players plenty of time to familiarize themselves with a few agents, learn about the maps, and master some game mechanics.
In Valorant Episode 4, the decision to make account level 20 as the barrier to entry was made. To unlock ranked play, players had to play 10 regular, unrated Valorant matches.
HOW DOES THE VALORANT’S RANGING SYSTEM WORK
The ranking system in Valorant works just like other competitive games. After unlocking ranked mode by reaching account level 20 you will need to play five placement matches in order to determine your starting rank as well as your skill level.
Valorant uses MMR (matchmaking rating system) to rank players. Each player will have an account number that changes over time, allowing them to move up and down in ranks as they improve.
Valorant Episode 3 brought about major improvements to matchmaking in ranked. These included better matchmaking accuracy and adjustments to the Ranked Rating curves of players to make climbing or falling down the ranks “less volatile.”
The Valorant ranking system is heavily based on whether or not you win or lose a match together, with your individual performance playing a smaller role.
This changes as you move up to higher ranks. Riot won’t consider how your matches are won or lost at the Immortal and Radiant ranks. Individual performance is the key factor in matchmaking. This is because Riot “trusts that you and your team have earned their way to the top.”
If you are inactive for more than 14 days, your rank will be hidden. Once you have played your first match, this will be restored. You will not lose your rank if you are absent for more than two weeks.
It will take you just five games to earn a rank in a new Act. However, your MMR from your previous rank will be considered. So expect a conservative placement at the beginning, where you can work your ways up. This means that you will be placed at a lower tier than where you were in your previous act.
What are VALORANT EPISODES AND ACTS?
Acts can be described as seasons in Valorant. Each Valorant Act lasts approximately two months. During that time you can work on your rank, track your progress, and monitor your overall rank. An Episode is made up of three Acts, which means that Episodes can last approximately six months.
What are the VALORANT ACT RANKS?
Valorant now offers Act Ranks. This is a way to show off your skills during and after a season.
Here’s a quick overview of the Act Rank Badge Triangles. Your Rank Act badge will get a new triangle for each rank you have played in. As you move up the ranks, the triangles that represent higher-ranked matches will be replaced by the lower-ranked ones. Based on how many wins you have in each rank, the border of the badge will change. Some people will see their badge at end of act as a colorful design, while Radiant leaders will see a solid triangle in gold.
Episode 1 awarded you triangles only for winning matches. Episode 2 awards you a triangle based upon the rank at which you finish a match, regardless of how it ends.
HOW DO I TRACK RANK PROGRESSION IN VALORANT
Match History allows you to track your rank progression, but Episode 2 introduced a leaderboard with progress bars and a leaderboard. The Episode 1 arrows were replaced by the Valorant rank rating, which is displayed on a progress bar that shows how close you are to the next rank.
Playing matches can help you earn ValorantRR. The majority of this comes from winning or losing. In a win you will gain Rank Rating, while in a loss you will lose Rank Rating. Your individual performance at lower ranks can help you advance faster.
For a win, you will get between 10-50 and 20 Rank Ratings. A draw can earn up to 20 Rank Ratings. Your individual performance will be considered when calculating your rank rating.
After being promoted to a higher rank, you will start at 10 Rank Rating and then drop to minimum 80 after a demotion. The rank info page will show you the rewards for each Episode.
WHAT’S NEXT IN VALORANT RRANKED?
Episode 5 introduced Ascendant, a new rank tier that sits between Immortal and Diamond. Expect the ranked distribution of Valorant to fluctuate slightly. Players who were previously in Valorant’s lower tiers are more likely to ascend (sorry,) to the next level.
