A new study by Verivox shows that you can save a lot of money with additional cards in the mobile phone contract. Families and couples in particular benefit.
An analysis by Verivox shows that you can save significantly by additional cards for mobile phone contracts. Families and couples particularly benefit from discounts that grant large providers such as Telekom, Vodafone and O2 on their contracts.
Cost savings through additional cards for large mobile phone providers
Compared to individual tariffs, additional cards offer great savings potential. With Telekom, the price for the first additional card is 19.95 euros, while each additional card only costs 9.95 euros. Vodafone and O2 also have attractive offers: With O2, discounts of up to 50 percent are possible on partner cards.

Families save through bundled mobile phone contracts
According to Verivox, the savings potential is particularly large when several cards are bundled. A family of four can save over 1,200 euros at Telekom in two years, a couple at Vodafone around 300 euros. The additional cards are bound to the main contract, but have their own phone numbers. If the main contract is terminated, the oldest additional card becomes the main card, which brings with it a price increase. Jörg Schamberg, telecommunications expert at Verivox, emphasizes: “Couples and families are giving away cash if they don't rely on additional cards.”
Discounter tariffs as an inexpensive alternative
Not only the large network operators, but also discounter tariffs offer considerable savings options. According to Verivox, a change to a discounter can contribute around 70 percent of the costs compared to traditional network operator offers. In the Vodafone network, for example, Dr. Sim a saving of over 1,450 euros in 24 months. Winsim also offers additional cards in the 1 & 1 network for only 4.99 euros per month. Schamberg advises: “It is important to know your personal needs. Discounter tariffs are suitable for an average, price-sensitive user.”
