A man armed with a rifle, pistol and knife stormed a day care center in the northern province of Nong Bua Lam Phu, killing at least 34 people, including 22 children.
EA former police officer killed at least 34 people at a daycare center in Thailand. 22 children were among the dead in the center in Nong Bua Lamphu in the north-east of the country, the Bangkok Post newspaper quoted Deputy Police Chief Torsak Sukwimol as saying on Thursday. The perpetrator also killed himself, his wife and child after the crime. Twelve other people were injured.
The perpetrator is said to have been armed with firearms and knives and forced his way into the building. Then he immediately opened fire, it said. He then fled before he is said to have killed himself.
Although many Thais own guns, mass shootings are rare in the country. In 2020, a soldier killed at least 29 people and injured 57 in a shooting spree, triggered by a failed real estate deal.
