“Attention, Reichelt!” – People, you have to dig in the garbage

Julian Reichelt, former editor-in-chief of “Bild”, now scolds everything that is green or left-wing on YouTube. Sometimes it’s funny – more often cynical and perfidious. The success is amazing.

WIf you want to visualize the incredible change that audiovisual media has undergone in the past few decades, the best place to start is with Luis Trenker. From 1959 he had a program on Bavarian radio called “Luis Trenker tells” and offered exactly that: Trenker sat sometimes at a table, sometimes on an armchair, sometimes he also stood around in the backdrop of a living room. And said nothing more. No plot, no action, just words, stories, some opinions.

More than sixty years later, Julian Reichelt, who believes what he is doing represents the future of journalism, sits at a table and speaks to the camera. No plot, no action, just a man talking. He tells, he explains. Unlike Luis Trenker, he has an abundance of opinions. And he has an audience that seems to be enthusiastic about these opinions: after just two months, Reichelt’s YouTube channel has 172,000 subscribers.
