Tinh Son is recalling a batch of its dried star anise. The banned pesticide anthraquinone was detected in the product. Affected items should no longer be used.
The company Tinh Son Handel GmbH is currently informing about a product recall. As can be read at produktwarning.eu, a plant protection product that is not approved in the EU has been detected in dried star anise.
This is anthraquinone. In 2009, the substance was withdrawn from approval as a plant protection product in the EU. Anthraquinone has been classified as a possible human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
