Former US President Donald Trump and his allies are outraged after the appointment of a special counsel. Attorney General Garland hopes the move will bring about a liberation.
DDonald Trump didn’t hesitate for long. Shortly after US Attorney General Merrick Garland appointed a special investigator to investigate the former president, Garland accused him of politicizing the judiciary. He had to endure this for six years. It’s a shame. Then he formulated a work order for his party: “I hope the Republicans have the courage to fight this. A little later, his loyal henchman Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted: “Impeach Merrick Garland!”
The attorney general announced on Friday that he had appointed Jack Smith as special counsel. The prosecutor, who was most recently chief prosecutor in The Hague, will investigate both alleged attempts by Trump to interfere in the lawful transfer of power after the 2020 presidential election and the handling of government files, some of which are classified, that Trump took with him when he left the White House to Mar-a-Lago. Smith is also to determine whether there was any obstruction of justice in this connection.
