It pays to be quick: Hardly anyone knows about it: the state gives you almost your entire holiday
There is currently a program run by the Ministry for Family Affairs that gives you up to 90 percent of travel expenses for the whole family. Here you can find out what requirements are necessary and how to apply.
It feels like the corona pandemic has receded into the background, and yet it is still there. In the last two years, she has forced people in Germany to stay much more in their own four walls. In the past two years, vacations have been unthinkable – a real stress test, especially for families who sometimes live together in a very small space.
The Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (BMFSFJ) is now offering a unique opportunity: the Corona time-out for families. You can get up to 90% of the cost of your next vacation reimbursed through the program.
But: Are you entitled to claim this at all? We will show you how to do the online check on the website.
Holiday paid by the state: Corona break
Before you apply for a Corona break for your family, we recommend a short online check using the tool offered by the BMFSFJ. So you know in advance whether the bureaucratic effort is worth it or not. Simply click through the questions asked in the tool, such as:
- primary residence
- Number of people
- children in the household
- gross household income
- any related social benefits
You will then receive a non-binding result for comparison. If you are below the annual income limit for your personal life situation, you may be entitled to 90% of the cost of your next family vacation. The offer is valid up to and including
December 31, 2022
. The actual request is made by e-mail or hotline.
In the second step, you can find out beforehand which facilities are taking part in the Corona time-out for families campaign – there are currently around 90 recreational facilities for families. To do this, click on one of the points on the map of Germany or zoom in.
Click on the blue markers to get more details and to ask directly whether there are still places available. The BMFSFJ promises that more sites will be added in the coming weeks.
The biggest catch:
Federal funds are limited, so even if you meet the requirements, you are not guaranteed to receive a discounted family vacation. There is no legal entitlement.
