Former Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao will be released from prison on Sunday, September 29, according to the official website of the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons.

After serving a short 4-month prison sentence at the Federal Correctional Institution in Lompoc, California, the former CEO of the Binance exchange is expected to be released in the coming days.

At the time, Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to charges related to money laundering at Binance. Although he will be released soon, he will, in theory, no longer be able to hold a ” position of responsibility » within the world's most popular centralized exchange.
However, he retains his rights as majority shareholder of Binance and will be able, as such, to guide the long-term objectives of the company, by advising or appointing new executives within Binance.
