Elon Musk (52) is now also attacking the well-known Twitter bird. As the billionaire announced, the iconic light blue logo will soon be a thing of the past. The animal will most likely be replaced with a stylized X – Musk’s preferred letter. The Twitter boss himself announced this in a tweet on his short message service. “And soon we will say goodbye to the Twitter logo and, incrementally, to all birds,” Musk wrote.
Musk is now also kicking the bird – and turning Twitter inside out
He later added that if someone posts a good X logo tonight, tomorrow they’ll be making it live worldwide. The remaining Twitter users should also say goodbye to the usual light blue color. Musk also wants to abolish this and replace it with black. According to US media reports, Musk also confirmed his intentions in a Twitter audio chat. He will change the logo, this should have happened “a long time ago”.
The company’s current token, dubbed simply “Twitter Bird,” was released in 2006 and has changed a bit over the years. The short message service’s former creative director, Doug Bowman, once told the New York Times about the blue bird: “Twitter is the bird, the bird is Twitter.” The animal is the ultimate representation of freedom, hope and limitless possibilities.
Tesla founder Elon Musk took over Twitter for around 44 billion US dollars last year and has since caused users to shake their heads with his decisions. His goal is to make the platform the “global platform for freedom of speech”, for him nothing less than the “future of civilization” is at stake. Twitter had previously marked or deleted incorrect and disinformation, for example in relation to the US elections or the corona pandemic. Musk also reversed the exclusion of Donald Trump (77), who liked to use the platform for himself.
