BrokerLink has closed the year with three acquisitions in Ontario and one in Alberta.
The large brokerage announced Tuesday the acquisitions of Ontario Wide Insurance Solutions Inc., Donnell Financial Services, Shuman Insurance Ltd. and Assurances Robichaud Insurance. The deals were effective Nov. 1 and Dec. 1.
Since 2009, Ontario Wide Insurance has provided customers with personalized home, auto and business insurance services. The Oakville, Ont.-based brokerage also offers trucking, cargo, professional liability and niche properties solutions.
“Ontario Wide Insurance is passionate about giving back to their community and is a proud supporter of Halton Women’s Place,” a women’s shelter serving Ontario’s Halton Region, BrokerLink says in a press release.
“Additionally, the acquisition of Donnell Financial Services in Burlington, Ontario, enables BrokerLink to expand its service offerings and enhance its expertise to offer employee benefits solutions.”
For its part, Robichaud Insurance has offered personalized home, auto and business insurance to northern Ontario since 1937. The Kapuskasing-based brokerage also specializes in insurance solutions for municipal and forestry industries. The brokerage is a dedicated supporter of several local charities and community events, including local minor hockey teams, chamber of commerce events and snowmobile clubs, BrokerLink adds.
Shuman Insurance has been a member of the community in Camrose, Alta., for more than 90 years. Located on Main Street in Camrose, the brokerage has been family-owned and operated for three generations. According to its website, it provides home, auto, farm, business, recreational vehicle, and personal umbrella insurance.
“The brokerage has built long-lasting relationships with customers and prides itself on providing personal, local advice,” BrokerLink says. “The team at Shuman Insurance are hands-on supporters of many community projects, charitable endeavours and contribute to local scholarship programs.”
BrokerLink is one of Canada’s largest property and casualty insurance brokerages, with more than 200 branches and 3,700 employees.
Throughout the year, BrokerLink has grown in communities across Canada and expanded into two new provinces — Manitoba and Saskatchewan — with the acquisition of The Standard Insurance Brokers Ltd. in June.
Established in 1897, The Standard offers customers in northwestern Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan tailored insurance solutions for home, auto, business, farm, recreational vehicles, life, group benefits and more. It’s also well-known for its expertise in specialty insurance programs, including tourist resorts, RV campgrounds, aerial crop spraying and professional liability for architects and engineers.
“As a top succession option for principals planning the future of their operations and employees, BrokerLink keeps its doors wide open for conversations,” the brokerage says in the Dec. 17 release.
“We’re eagerly anticipating another phenomenal year in 2025,” adds BrokerLink’s vice president of acquisitions, Michael Stack.
