Kno one likes to do their tax return. It takes a lot of effort to pay back money in the end or to get money back that you are actually entitled to from the state. But sometimes there is a secret in the tax data, as is the case in the United States. It is presumably about a billionaire who probably remained undiscovered for years – actually impossible in our day and age, one would think. But from the beginning.
The US Treasury Department publishes daily reports on government financial transactions. On December 28, here’s a glaring outlier in the tax data: a $7 billion deposit, found under the “Inheritance and Gift Tax” category. This is the highest income of this kind since at least 2005, presumably even longer, since this data has only been published in this way since then.
