It’s going to be expensive: The new police station in the center of Kreuzberg will cost 3.75 million euros – a prestige project, or will it really bring more security?

The Kottbusser Tor is a trendy neighborhood, but also a focal point where crime often occurs. Now there is a police station. Can she solve the problems?
DThree police officers jump out of a police car at a crossroads in north-east Kreuzberg. They run towards a young man who is walking along a green verge with a beer bottle in his hand. The man looks surprised, then composed, and willingly empties his pockets. Yes, he just bought Subutex, a substitute for heroin, at Kottbusser Tor. Plainclothes police officers had observed it and reported it to the patrol – it could also be “that there is still grass in there”, the young man points to his backpack. “Take a look,” he tells the police officers on a first-name basis. The sieges back, asks him to describe the seller.
The man to whom the description applies is just getting on the subway at Kottbusser Tor, the colleagues learn over the radio. You sprint back to the car, race through red traffic lights following the course of line 1 in the direction of Warschauer Straße. After just one stop, the dealer gets off with a colleague at the Görlitz train station. They run down the stairs – and straight into the arms of the police officers.
