Public Key Episode 18 preview: Teaching police about crypto, the Challenges of confiscating Bitcoin, and Chainalysis Academy
Last month, the 2022 State of Cryptocurrency Investigations Survey was released. In this week’s episode, Joe Saar (Training Specialist) joins our host, Ian Andrews (Chainalysis CMO) to analyze the feedback we received.
Calling back to his background in law enforcement, Saar explains how crypto crime is becoming more prevalent in police investigations than ever. He also speaks to the survey’s findings that criminal investigators need better tools and teachings to help detect illicit activity, secure search warrants and sixteen crypto assets. The episode is packed with great tips for investigators and old police stories you can’t miss.
Quote of the episode
“This is thematically common on this show. Everybody that I asked this question to, they’re like “Yeah, I stumbled across it in some way. And I was way early and I tried to tell everyone around me how important crypto was gonna be, how relevant it was to what we’re working on. And generally the response is like laughter. ” – Ian Andrews (CMO, Chainalysis)
