Apple complements its iPhone offer with a cheaper model with the first 5G modem from its own development. The iPhone 16E is sold in Germany at a price of 699 euros. It is therefore 250 euros cheaper than the iPhone 16. With the 16e, the home button with fingerprint sensor dies in all current models of facial recognition Faceid.
Apple quits cheap iPhone 16E
According to Apple, the in-house modem for connecting to the mobile phone network is particularly energy-saving and extends the battery life. Charging lasts up to twelve hours longer than the cheapest iPhone SE model so far. The group has been working on developing its own 5G modems for years to replace the technology of the chip group Qualcomm.
Like the SE, the 16e only has a camera lens. Since the sensor has 48 megapixels, it can be zoomed in for a telephoto effect. Just like other models of the new iPhone series, the 16E is ready for the AI functions of “Apple Intelligence”, which are expected to be introduced in Germany in April.
