Climate policy is future policy. That's what makes it so difficult because no one knows exactly what's going to happen. In addition, the parties have to find their voters in the present. And in the present, they often have other problems than thinking about what their life will be like in a retirement home when it will be around 40 degrees for weeks, even in northern Germany. Even their party colleagues often see climate politicians as annoying people who forget about today because of all the tomorrow.
