Around seven months after the collapse of a highway bridge in the US port city of Baltimore due to a shipwreck, the US authorities announced that they had agreed with the Singaporean companies that owned and operated the ship on a compensation payment of more than $100 million. The agreement reached with companies Grace Ocean and Synergy Marine ensures that the costs of cleaning the channel will be borne by the companies – not by the US taxpayer, a senior Justice Department official said on Thursday.
