A girl from Lower Saxony bears the same name as a language assistant. Since she is being bullied by her classmates because of this, she is now given a middle name. That was decided by a court in Göttingen.

Their daughter suffers significant bullying and teasing because of her name, the preschooler’s parents argued. Again and again she would be given orders. The city had rejected an application for a middle name, so the parents sued. On June 21, the Administrative Court of Göttingen agreed with them.

The court found that the product name of the well-known language assistant was a keyword for using the device and was therefore particularly susceptible to misuse. He invites you to issue insulting and demeaning commands to people with the same name.
Since the girl will keep her first name and last name, she will have no problems with the authorities – for example when applying for an ID card. Appeals against the delivered judgment can be lodged within one month, it said.
