Kathryn Sinclair has been named interim president of the Centre for the Study of Insurance Operations (CSIO), the data standards body for the Canadian property and casualty insurance industry announced Tuesday.
Sinclair succeeds Catherine Smola, who has left CSIO “to pursue other challenges,” a press release from CSIO says. Smola had been president and CEO of CSIO for more than 13 years.
“We thank her for her contributions over the last 13 years and wish her all the best in her future endeavors,” the CSIO says of Smola’s departure.
Sinclair is stepping up from her previous role as vice president of strategy and operations for CSIO, where she led initiatives designed to achieve operational process improvements in the broker channel for the past five years.

Before her time at CSIO, Sinclair was chief operating officer at aha insurance for two years, and held senior roles at Ignite Insurance for three years. She was also a broker service and sales manager at the Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan.
“We are confident that Kathryn’s extensive experience and leadership will effectively guide CSIO through this transitionary period,” CSIO says. “Additionally, we will be starting the process to select a president for CSIO on a permanent basis.”
CSIO is Canada’s industry technology association of P&C insurers, vendors and more than 43,000 brokers. Its mandate is to oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of technology standards and solutions, including CSIOnet, eDocs, and My Proof of Insurance.
