The ECB confirms that there was a recent attempted cyber attack on its President Christine Lagarde. According to a media report, she was contacted using what appeared to be the real cell phone number of former Chancellor Angela Merkel.
EZB President Christine Lagarde has fallen victim to a cyber attack, according to the central bank. “We can confirm that there was recently an attempted cyber attack on the President,” said a spokeswoman for the European Central Bank (ECB) in Frankfurt on Tuesday on request. “He was quickly recognized and stopped. No information was compromised. We can’t say more because the investigation is still ongoing.”
According to information from the online portal “Business Insider”, unknown persons have been trying to take over celebrity accounts on Whatsapp and other messenger services for weeks.
