The food manufacturer Anker GmbH Fisch- u. Feinkostfabrik has recalled herrings because of the risk of salmonella. The company in Dassow in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania announced that individual batches of the product Anchor Hering in jelly 200 grams with an expiration date of April 6th, 2023 were affected. The consumption of herring is not recommended
The product was sold in retail. The company said it could also be returned there. “The product recall is purely a precautionary measure.”
Salmonella infection can cause diarrhea, abdominal pain, vomiting, and a slight fever, which usually resolves within a day. However, more severe disease progressions can develop in infants, small children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.
