It sounds simple and right. But leaving the charging cable plugged in can have several consequences that are quite unpleasant.
Many people unconsciously make a mistake after they have powered up their cell phone and other devices: they unplug the device but leave the charging cable in the socket. This habit can lead to problems later on. So pay attention to the following in the future
Your charging cable always stays plugged in? This is what you have to expect
There are two possible consequences if the charging cable is regularly left plugged in. Especially in times of energy crisis, it can be a good idea to pay attention to this, even if it is only a small device with manageable consumption. There are also safety aspects that speak in favor of pulling the plug.
#1 Cost trap charger
As simple as it sounds, leaving the charging cable plugged in can be expensive. This is because the electricity is converted even when the cell phone etc. is not plugged in. This means that you are constantly paying electricity costs as long as the device is not unplugged from the power supply.
This is the easiest way to charge batteries without wasting money unnecessarily. This is especially true if you are not using just one charger, but several charging cables in the socket. To find out whether the charger is drawing power even without a cell phone, you can do a simple test. If the plug is warm, current is flowing. With devices with higher power, you will also hear an electrical hum.
Of course, this doesn't add up to much, but a few kilowatt hours left in a charging cable in the socket are quite a lot. If the device ends up breaking due to overload, you'll have to spend extra money on a new one.
#2 Fire hazard from charging cable
In fact, it can be dangerous to leave the charging cable plugged into the socket. This is especially true if the device is defective and no longer works properly. Since such a defect is not always immediately apparent, the charger can overheat and pose a fire hazard.
Cheap no-name products in particular can be a source of danger here. In order to charge your battery correctly, you should not only use devices from the respective manufacturer, but also never leave the charging cable plugged into the socket for too long.
