First Amazon Echos reduced in advance – official Prime Day offers
Amazon is offering several Echo devices at attractive prices as part of the Prime Day pre-deal, including the Echo Dot 5, Echo Show 5, and Echo Pop. These deals are available until July 15 and offer significant savings on the popular voice assistants. We expect some of these deals to be extended beyond Prime Day. Since these are official Prime Day prices, it is not expected that the devices will become any cheaper after that. Nevertheless, these deals may not appeal to all customers, as some popular devices are only discounted in a double pack or bundle. Annoying.

A notice: The offer is only valid as a double pack. You have to put two Echo Dots in your shopping cart to get the calculated unit price of 23.99 euros. If you are not interested in two devices, it may be worth waiting for Prime Day. The individual price could be higher, however. At the moment the price is a reduced 47.98 euros – an acceptable but not outstanding deal.

These prices for Amazon Echo devices are very attractive and are unlikely to drop any further over the course of the year. If you need a smart voice assistant, you'll get a lot of device for your money here. However, the popular Echo Dot 5 and Echo Show 5 models are currently only heavily discounted in a double pack. If you only need one device, you might want to wait.
Amazon plans to equip the Echos with additional AI functions, which could make the devices even smarter and more useful. However, this will require an Alexa subscription in the future (source: CHIP). As far as we can currently assess the situation, the current functions will remain free of charge.
