From tomorrow, new measures apply to the French. What are the developments to be expected and will they impact purchasing power?
Clear drop in electricity prices
Electricity prices have increased significantly in recent months, creating more difficult bills to pay for many French people. So this is the good news of the month: The average electricity rate will decrease clearly, for 70 % of households.
For 24 million households, savings will amount to 15 % on average. This drop was allowed by the fall in the prices of electricity on the markets, despite the return of the electricity tax at its level before the COVVI-19 crisis.

Less remuneration on booklets A and LEP
Following the slowdown in inflation, French savings booklets will see their interest rates revised downwards. The Ministry of the Economy has indeed confirmed that booklet A will only bring in 2.4 % over a year (against 3 % currently). The same goes for the popular savings book (LEP), which will only pay 3.5 % (against 4 % currently).
The drop in LEP's interests was less strong than expected: supposed to fall to 2.9 %, it was maintained at 3.5 % by Bercy.

Tolls and tobacco up
Regarding everyday expenses, 2 increases should be noted. On the one hand, Highway toll prices, which will increase by 0.92 % on average. These are adjusted to inflation, as well as to the investment needs of companies holding highways.
However, all regions are not equal : It will be necessary to count on an increase of 1.14 % with SAPN (Normandy) and 1.10 % for Area (Southeast). The SANEF (northeast) will increase its 0.85 %prices.
We must also plan an increase in the price of tobaccobut for certain packets of cigarettes only. This is the second increase of the year, and it will amount to a few tens of more cents per package. The customs services have published the brands concerned by the new prices.

New food aid for students
From tomorrow, a prepaid card for students who do not have access to moderate prices will be distributed. Containing 20 to 50 euros, it can be used in shops and food. It is only the students located in the white area that are concerned. It is valid until the summer, when it will be automatically emptied.
