Water sports are, according to the impression at this year's Boot trade fair in Düsseldorf, an increasingly diverse affair. The halls on the Rhine are shared by pompous luxury yachts with spartan origami-style folding kayaks, sleek sailing boats for large crews and long trips with inflatable dinghies that can fit in a small car. Wooden classics meet carbon hulls and not-so-trendy stand-up paddle boards meet extremely popular foil boards, some with electric drives.
