Goalscorer Robert Glatzel remains with the club despite missing out on promotion to the Bundesliga. Hamburger SVThe second division club from the Hanseatic city announced this on Saturday. The 30-year-old centre-forward is waiving the option of activating a contractually agreed exit clause in his contract, which runs until 2027. “HSV, the fans and Hamburg mean a lot to me, I have mentioned that several times,” Glatzel is quoted as saying in a club statement.
Last season, the attacker scored 22 goals for HSV and provided seven assists. This put him joint first in the top scorer list with Haris Tabakovic (Hertha BSC) and Christos Tzolis (Fortuna Düsseldorf). But even Glatzel’s success rate was not enough for Hamburg to finish higher than fourth in the final rankings.
The striker is now entering his fourth season in the Hanseatic city and wants to finally achieve promotion. “I can hardly wait for the next season to start. I want to do my part to ensure that we achieve our goals together,” said Glatzel.
Extremely satisfied was also Sports Director Stefan Kuntz: “Bobby is a very important player for our team and we are of course happy that he has chosen HSV.” Kuntz is convinced that Glatzel will Coach Steffen Baumgart “can develop further.
