The former “Tagesthemen” moderator made a surprise appearance on the ARD news program. The message he had to announce was about his successor.
Ulrich Wickert is back at his old place of work in the “Daily Topics” – but only for a one-off visit. On Tuesday evening, the former “Tagesthemen” moderator read the message in the ARD news program that moderator Caren Miosga is now presenting the program longer than he himself and is therefore the longest-serving moderator.
For 15 years and two months, Wickert presented the “Daily Topics”, which are produced in Hamburg by the joint venture ARD-aktuell. He should certainly still be in the ear of many with his farewell greeting for every program – the 79-year-old always wished a “restful night”. In 2006, Wickert stopped working on the ARD flagship “Tagesthemen”.
ARD program director Christine Strobl and ARD editor-in-chief Oliver Köhr said of Miosga: “Her style is unmistakable: competent, understandable and clear, highly professional, but always with empathy and a special charm. Caren Miosga has long since become “Mrs. Tagesthemen” has become.” In 2007 she replaced her predecessor Anne Will, the contract of the 53-year-old presenter runs until 2025 according to ARD information.
