Butter prices are falling again at some German retailers. The last massive price reduction was only about four weeks ago.
Butter prices are falling again in many German markets. As the “Lebensmittel Zeitung” reports, the two discounters Aldi and Norma, among others, have significantly reduced the products.
At Aldi, the Kerry brand butter was also reduced by 50 cents to 2.99 euros, according to CHIP information, Rewe and Edeka will also follow suit. At Edeka, the Meggle brand butter is currently available in an advertising campaign for 1.49 euros instead of the normal 2.59 euros.
Development of the butter price with a positive trend for customers
The rising prices on the butter shelves seem to be a thing of the past for the time being. In mid-2022, some of the prices had risen to just under 2.30 euros. It was only in December that Aldi prices fell below two euros again.
Just about a month ago, Aldi was the first retailer in Germany to drastically reduce the prices for the butter, whereupon the competition quickly followed suit.
The German branded butter in the 250 gram pack now only costs 1.49 euros here. According to information from CHIP, the spreadable butter (salted / unsalted, 250 grams) and sweet cream butter (250 grams) of the own brands are now ten cents cheaper at Aldi, Netto and Norma.
