[…] Whoever drives the league must be rewarded accordingly.” And Diederich said with regard to the Bundesliga’s new national TV deal: “We will look very closely at how these revenues should be distributed.” That was Bayern’s message -Manager.
Previously, Diederich had announced a sales record for the group (FC Bayern Munich AG and its subsidiaries, such as Allianz Arena München Stadion GmbH): 951.5 million euros. The profit after taxes (43.1 million euros) was the second highest after that of the 2018/19 season.
When the members were later allowed to speak (which, see the Qatar Airways debate, is usually the most interesting because it is the most critical part of the general meeting), they did not want to talk about the numbers of their football club, but rather about its jersey colors.
“We got the message”
In their speeches, several members referred to an agreement from November 2018. The then board member Jörg Wacker said, as you can read on Bayern's website: “FC Bayern Munich AG has announced that in the future for the main uniform, consisting of Jersey, shorts and socks (so-called home jersey), only the traditional club colors red and white are used.” This season the home jersey is red and black.
When several members criticized this (later the majority of members in the stands even sang the fan classic: “We want red and white jerseys”), Michael Diederich replied: “We understood the message. I vow to improve, you can take me at my word.”
The biggest applause came for a film about Franz Beckenbauer, who died in January of this year. In the presence of Heidi and Joel Beckenbauer, widow and son, President Herbert Hainer then announced that the number 5 jersey that Beckenbauer previously wore would no longer be awarded in the future. Everyone at FC Bayern Munich can actually agree on Franz Beckenbauer, that is and remains a different message.
