DAmerican rapper Ye, still better known to most as Kanye West, is threatened with trouble after the latest tirade. The relatives of the African American George Floyd, who died below the knee of a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota in May 2020, announced on Tuesday a $250 million lawsuit against the 45-year-old.
Ye had ranted about Floyd’s death on the Drink Champs podcast over the weekend. The bouncer, the singer said, was not killed by the knee of officer Derek Chauvin, who has since been convicted of murder. Ye, on the other hand, blamed Floyd’s drug addiction and previous illnesses for his death. As the rapper (“Praise God”) said, the forty-six-year-old was the victim of an overdose of the synthetic opioid fentanyl.
After slamming it on social media, hip-hop musician NORE, who conducted the interview with Ye, apologized to Floyd’s loved ones and podcast listeners Monday. On behalf of Floyd’s eight-year-old daughter Gianna and her mother Roxie Washington, the law firm Witherspoon has now also announced the lawsuit to Ye.
