Since Bidzina Ivanishvili resigned as prime minister in November 2013 after just over a year, the richest Georgian has led the country informally, now as honorary chairman of his power party, the Georgian Dream. This is clear to all Georgians, thousands of whom have been streaming into the center of the capital Tbilisi every evening for two weeks and peacefully demonstrating against their country's break with the EU. But many of Georgia's western partners continue to use official channels.
