France’s biggest metal festival, Hellfest, is also turning to Web3. It will offer visitors non-fungible tokens (NFTs), in partnership with the French startup Billy. Zoom on what will be played within the diabolical festival.
Hellfest offers NFTs and a Web3 experience to its visitors
The sixteenth edition of Hellfest marks a turning point towards Web3. The metal festival, the biggest festival in France in 2022, should welcome 60,000 visitors per day. And he will score with a drop of NFTs. Visitors who have chosen a “Hellfest Box” when purchasing tickets, numbering 13,000, will be given a digital version (dubbed “evil twins”, or Hellframes) of their pass.
In addition to this, they will be able to collect one digital collectible object among six others, which each represent one of the scenes of Hellfest. Last initiative for the festival-goers concerned: they can be drawn a few days before the start of the festival, in order to receive one of the 666 “surprises» as well as a “unique experiencefor 6 of them.

To deliver these experiences to fans, the Hellfest teamed up with Billy, a French startup. Launched in 2022, it focuses on ways to combine new ticketing experiences with the Web3 industry. The idea is to retain metal fans… But also to rejuvenate the target audience of Hellfest, whose average age is approaching forty.
In addition, access to these “Hellfest Boxes” will allow continuous engagement of festival visitors:
“The promise is also engage the Hellfest community over time. Holders of Hellframes will discover content and benefits once the festival is over, and many more surprises…»
This test from the biggest French festival shows that the sector is well aware of the interest that these technologies can represent for musical scenes. Beyond the “collectible” aspects, NFTs can indeed allow process simplifications for musicians, in particular for the management of copyrights. If the Hellfest initiative proves to be a success, it is therefore a safe bet that it will be followed by others.
