Axel Hellmann stays at Eintracht Frankfurt and does not switch to the DFL. Philip Holzer is also continuing. “There was never a power struggle,” says Hellmann. Club President Peter Fischer should retire in 2024.
Dhe cup semi-final this Wednesday at VfB Stuttgart will decide whether this season can still be a success for Frankfurt’s Eintracht. More far-reaching and important decisions for the future of the traditional Hessian club were announced on Tuesday. All culminate in the message: Axel Hellmann remains spokesman for the board and will not switch to the German Football League (DFL) as managing director. But this fact is only one effect of the successful clean-up work that Eintracht has done in recent weeks. The club has withstood its ordeal, finding a comprehensive solution to what had long been thought impossible.
There can only be one: That was the widespread opinion after the argument between the chairman of the supervisory board, Philip Holzer, and the spokesman for the board, Axel Hellmann, had smoldered for months and then became public. But surprisingly, both will remain in their positions at the club and assure each other that they will work together in a spirit of trust in the future. According to information from the FAZ, however, President Peter Fischer is to resign from office at the next ordinary general meeting of the association in February.
