If you’re a bride-to-be, then you know that finding your dream wedding dress is the number-one priority on your to-do list! Certainly, most of you will understand how a bride visualized her white dress ever since she was a little girl. Though you’ve probably dreamt about this gown long before he popped the question, the process of finding that perfect wedding gown is a hard task.
You never know how picky you are until you go to your bridal appointment and that’s totally normal! With that being said, here’s what you need to know before going to your appointment:
- Set up a mood board
- Book an appointment at least 6 months before your wedding
- Listen to your bridal consultant
- Enjoy this experience to the max!
Now, let’s dive into the top tips on how to be prepared for wedding dress shopping at Esposa!
- When to book an appointment?
Starting wedding dress shopping is an individual process for each bride, but as experts who have been in the field since 1987, Esposa Group highly advise every bride to start her wedding dress shopping at least 6 months prior to her wedding date. By doing so, the bride will have the right amount of time to plan the other aspects of the wedding which are related to her dress. Some brides like to match the cake, flowers or theme to their dress, so finding the one early on will help her do so. Aside from that, the alterations team will have more time to achieve the work, especially if you’re having major changes and embellishments!
- Who should come with me to my fitting?
Your bridal entourage should be people who share the same thoughts and opinions as you. Don’t feel pressured to bring someone with you just because they’re a family member or a close friend. There’s nothing worse than getting judged and overwhelmed on such a big day. Wedding dress shopping is stressful and confusing as is, you don’t need to make it harder by bringing someone who will criticize you and make you feel bad. Ideally, a bride should bride her mother and her bridesmaids with her, after all, she must have chosen them because they fit into her circle and they share her tastes and thoughts!
- How to get ready for the appointment?
As mentioned before, dress shopping is confusing and overwhelming, that’s why we highly recommend you do your research before-hand and even create your own mood board. Never go into that journey blind as you’ll only get more confused! Aside from that, wear something comfortable and easy to get out of as you’ll be trying on different dresses. You’ll also be standing and walking around browsing our collection in the showrooms so you’ll need flat shoes for sure!
- What happens if I don’t find my dream dress?
Even if you come prepared to your bridal appointment, that doesn’t mean you’re going to find the perfect dress right away, and that’s totally fine. You might know exactly what you want, the cut, the fabric, the style, and still not get that feeling everyone talks about. In that case, we recommend you book another appointment and come back alone this time. Sometimes even if you bring the right people with you to your appointment, you still get confused and distracted. So we suggest you re-do the process on your own and once you find the one, bring your entourage to celebrate saying Yes to the dress!
If after your do-over you still don’t find what speaks to you, then you can always customize your own dress and turn your vision into reality. At Esposacouture by Kristie Romanos atelier, you’ll get the chance to custom make your gown, incorporating the right fabrics, embellishments, beads, embroidery and anything you like!
Some more tips and tricks!
- Step out of your comfort zone. If you’re having a hard time finding the one, chances are you’re searching the wrong styles! Try to look into different silhouettes, you might like something that isn’t your style but totally fall in love!
- Fix a budget and stick to it! As tempting as it is to try on that over-the-top gown, don’t! Try to stick to the budget you’ve set as weddings are expensive. You don’t want to suffocate yourself!
- Do not take pictures! You might be tempted to take pictures to look at them later. We all go through that stage where we like a picture at first but hate it the more we look at it. That’s exactly what will happen if you have a picture of your dress that you can see repeatedly.
Last words of wisdom: Enjoy the ride! It’s not every day you get to wear that special white dress, so benefit from it. Don’t rush to say ‘Yes to the dress’ unless you get that feeling you hear about. Get ready and let the most joyful journey commence!
