Do you know that too? When you finally get home, you start rummaging around for the key, which of course is hidden somewhere at the bottom of your pocket. Or maybe you forgot or lost it somewhere? Then good advice is expensive now. Because now usually only a locksmith can help, who can reward your mishap accordingly. Wouldn’t it be practical if you could enter your smart home smartly without ever having to look for the key again or worry about it? Nothing easier than that: With the intelligent access solutions from Homematic IP, you will never find yourself in front of closed doors again!
Coming home smart: intelligent door lock drive
The literal linchpin of the clever access solutions from Homematic IP is the intelligent door lock drive. Install the smart lock drive on your existing locking cylinder and you can use the app to control who is allowed to enter your house and when. With the intelligent door lock drive from Homematic IP, you only need your smartphone to lock or unlock your apartment door. The assembly is done in a few simple steps without drilling and can be done on your existing lock cylinder, provided that it fulfills two requirements: On the one hand, your lock cylinder must protrude at least 8 millimeters on the inside of the door and, on the other hand, it must have a so-called emergency and danger function. Thanks to this property, the cylinder can also be operated from the outside if a key is inserted inside. Then you can get started and nothing stands in the way of your smart return home!

Access without a smartphone: smart keypad
The true strength of the intelligent access solutions from Homematic IP can be played out with smart additions such as the Homematic IP Keypad. Not only do you lock or unlock your front door with four to eight-digit codes, you also control the hall light, the garage door or the alarm system. Another plus point: the keypad works independently of the smartphone and opens your door even if you have misplaced or forgotten your phone or if one person in the household simply does not have a smartphone. You can use the app to configure individual access authorizations and assign a personal numerical code to the babysitter, domestic help or nursing staff, for example, as well as certain days and times when you can enter your house with this code. In the future, this saves you the hassle of organizing key handovers or switching to unsafe key hiding places, for example under the doormat or the flower pot on the stairs. The keypad can be installed just as easily as the door lock drive without drilling and establishes a direct, interference-free radio connection with the lock drive. This means that access via the keypad still works even if the electricity, the internet or the Homematic IP Access Point, the heart of the Homematic Smart Home, should fail. Better safe than sorry!
Digital key: keychain remote control
Another clever helper in the Homematic IP Smart Home is the keychain remote control. This opens the door at the push of a button and is particularly suitable for older people or children who cannot or do not want to remember any numerical codes and do not have a smartphone. The advantage of this digital key is that you can simply “delete” it if you lose it. To do this, simply remove the keychain remote control from your network in the app. Your home is already safe from unauthorized access and you save yourself the expensive replacement of your locking system. Of course, you can also assign access authorizations to the remote control and set up a radio operator, for example, for the babysitter or the household help. Also great: another button on the remote control can be programmed, for example, for the outside or corridor light. This makes coming home even smarter and more pleasant.
