In 1970, the American social scientist Albert O. Hirschman wrote of three possibilities of how the citizens can react, which are disappointed with their political system: emigration, contradiction and loyalty. Now Edgar Grande and Daniel Saldivia Gonzatti from the Berlin Science Center have taken the protests against the obligation to vaccinate during the Corona pandemic 2022 and the protests against energy policy in winter 2022/23 to measure political trust in Germany. The parties and government would have to alert what they have found shortly before the Bundestag election, they look like signs of a deep crisis of our political system.
