Until a while ago, MetaMask only allowed to store cryptocurrencies, but the application continues to grow in features, it is now possible to buy cryptocurrencies directly thereand even to access functions such as bridge or swap.

First of all, if you are not familiar with the MetaMask wallet, it will be necessary to download it from its website. The MetaMask Wallet is a browser extension, but it is also available on iOS or Android.

Regardless of the device you use to use MetaMask, the procedure will be similar: go to the MetaMask homepage and click the ” Buy at the “Send”, “Swap” and “Bridge” buttons. If you are on the browser extension, this operation will automatically take you to your portfolio MetaMask in a new window.

If this is your very first time logging into your MetaMask portfolio, it will be necessary to indicate your country of residence so that appropriate payment intermediaries are offered to you. Your choice will then be saved and it will not be necessary to perform this operation for the next few times.

Afterwards, you will have to choose the payment method of your choice. You are free to choose payment by credit card or by SEPA transfer. For our example, we will choose to buy €100 of AVAX, the Avalanche ecosystem token, with a bank card. Thus, select the cryptocurrency of your choice in the upper part of the interface (here AVAX), and enter the amount you wish to invest for this transaction. Finally click on “Get Quotes”.
On the next screen, MetaMask will offer you different payment intermediaries to finalize the transaction. Note that the most economical intermediary will always be selected by default and indicated at the top of the list.
Below, the most financially advantageous proposed intermediary will be Mercuryo. To access the payment window, it will be necessary to click on “ Buy with Mercury » or the one that will be offered to you at the time of the transaction.
Depending on the chosen payment intermediary, you may be required to enter different information. Most of the time, you will not be asked for more than your email address, your name and your first name.
You will then be asked to enter your credit card information. Be aware that MetaMask only offers intermediaries that it has approvedand that if in doubt, you can check the opinions of other users from sites such as TrustPilot.
Once the payment has been made, your cryptocurrencies should arrive shortly directly in your MetaMask wallet. You can find the status of the transaction directly from the ” Activity on the MetaMask home page, but be aware that the time required will vary depending on the blockchain you selected earlier.
