Technological advancements have resulted in the development, design, manufacture and marketing of new products in the marketplace that have features of connectivity empowered by advanced manufacturing, automation. Internet of things, and artificial intelligence. These emerging products are ubiquitous in every-day-life with cross-industry applications from retail and transportation to energy & mining, entertainment, finance, hospitality, infrastructure, health care and life sciences. In part one of this series, we will review the state of cases advancing these new theories of liability and defence strategies to manage claims from the outset, including the new liability theories associated with “forever chemicals,” smart products, and greenwashing claims. The seminar will also touch on the underwriting risk considerations associated with these emerging products.
Providing insights from underwriters, claims handlers, and legal counsel, this session will discuss the latest challenges facing industries, equipping you to handle minor incidents or catastrophic losses.
Part 2 – Complex Claim Spotlight: Where Artificial Intelligence is the Focus of the Case

AI has become increasingly integrated into everyday products-from home security systems and kitchen appliances to medical devices. AI features in a product are now present across industries impacting business and consumer end-product applications. The industry applications are broad ranging from retail and transportation to energy & mining, entertainment, finance, hospitality, infrastructure, health care and life sciences. This has raised new questions about liability that p&c professionals ought to understand and navigate.
In this session, we will examine what happens when AI features are alleged to have caused personal injury or property damage. Reviewing the latest cases and exploring the unique challenges and opportunities that arise in defending these cutting-edge cases, you will gain a fulsome perspective on best practices in managing and handling the new wave of liability associated with AI.
