SSixth game, sixth win: Real Madrid remain at the top of the table in Spain. The Champions League winner also won the city derby against Atlético Madrid 2-1 (2-0) on Sunday and thus remains without a loss. Brazil’s Rodrygo (18′) and Uruguay’s Fede Valverde (36′) scored for coach Carlo Ancelotti’s extremely efficient team.

In the closing stages, however, victory was again in danger after Mario Hermoso (83′) scored for the hosts. The defender then saw yellow-red in the heated final phase, the guests brought the success over time. Real are now two points ahead of FC Barcelona.

World footballer Robert Lewandowski had already led the Catalans to their fifth win of the season in the Spanish Primera Division on Saturday. The exceptional Polish striker contributed two goals (34th/48th minute) to the 3:0 (2:0) against FC Elche at the bottom of the table. For Lewandowski it was the seventh and eighth goal of the season in the sixth league game.

Stumbling start at Juventus Turin continues

Meanwhile, French champions Paris St. Germain are once again setting themselves apart from the competition thanks to their superstar Lionel Messi. The Argentinian’s early winning goal (5th) in the 1-0 (1-0) win at Olympique Lyon allowed PSG to extend its lead at the top of the table to two points after eight rounds over the still undefeated pursuers Olympique Marseille.

In addition to Messi’s sixth goal in the last four games against the team of injured ex-world champion Jerome Boateng, the team from the capital benefited from Marseille’s 1-1 (0-1) win over Stade Rennes.

Meanwhile, the bumpy start of the Italian soccer record champions Juventus Turin in Serie A continues. After four draws from the first six league games, the team of coach Massimiliano Allegri, who was suspended, suffered their first defeat of the season on Sunday. Juve lost 0-1 (0-0) to AC Monza, who had been at the bottom of the table without a win to date. The gap to leaders SSC Napoli is already seven points.

The Old Lady disappointed across the board against the club of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who had fired their coach during the week. The culmination of a very weak first half was the dismissal of newcomer Angel di Maria (40th) after an elbow blow. After the break it was even more bitter for the ambitious Turiners: Christian Gytkjaer (74th) scored the much-acclaimed winning goal for the promoted team.

Meanwhile, Napoli successfully defended their lead thanks to a 2-1 (0-0) win at champions AC Milan – still level on points ahead of Atalanta Bergamo, who prevailed 1-0 (1-0) at AS Roma. Matteo Politano (55th penalty) and Giovanni Simeone (78th), the son of Atletico Madrid’s star coach Diego Simeone, scored for Naples. Milan’s Olivier Giroud (69th) had taken care of the equalizer. Bergamo’s victory secured the 18-year-old defensive talent Giorgio Scalvini (35th).

Previously, cup winners Inter Milan lost 3-1 at Udinese Calcio after conceding two late goals. Nicolo Barella (5′) gave the visitors an early lead before Inter right-back Milan Skriniar (22′) scored an own goal. Then Jaka Bijol (84th) and former HSV professional Tolgay Arslan (90th + 3) shot Udinese to victory.

In the other Sunday games, Lazio won confidently 4-0 (3-0) at basement child US Cremonese, while AC Florence won 2-0 (1-0) at home against Hellas Verona.
