The Memminger brewery is insolvent more than 100 years after it was founded. However, operations at the traditional company should be continued for the time being.
With Memminger Brauerei GmbH, another traditional German company has to go bankrupt. As the “Allgäuer Zeitung” reports, the insolvency proceedings under self-administration were opened on February 22nd. As a result, not only the brewery itself is affected, but also the subsidiaries for logistics and property management.
For the time being, however, operations at the Bavarian beverage manufacturer should continue in full. The management around Wolfgang Kesselschläger and Jörn Hund confirmed this to the Allgäuer Zeitung.

The company can look back on almost 120 years of history, which began in the brewery restaurant “Schwarzer Ochsen” in Memmingen. In 1911, the city’s first large brewery was created as a result of the merger with the “Schwarzer Adler” and “Weißes Ross” breweries.
Memminger sells a range of different beers, including Memminger Bier, Bergler Bier and Alpkönig. In addition, the company also has a non-alcoholic division sold in supermarkets under the Libella brand.
