The state of Texas wants to counter planned protests at the weekend against the US government under President Donald Trump with all hardness. “Peaceful protests are part of the structure of our nation, but Texas will not tolerate the lawlessness we have seen in Los Angeles,” said Republican governor Greg Abbott. More than 5,000 soldiers from the National Guard and 2,000 other officials of a Texas police unit will therefore support authorities throughout the state. The aim is to ensure order in demonstrations. “Don't get on with Texas,” added Abbott.
The governor had previously announced the use of the national guard in several locations in the state, but without naming without details.
In the United States, the protests that started in Los Angeles and are primarily aimed at the migration policy of the Trump government. The tensions could continue to increase at the weekend: On Saturday evening (local time) there is a large military parade in Washington-on the occasion of the 250th day of the US army. The appointment falls on Trump's 79th birthday. The event is critically seen by many Americans. Protests were announced nationwide.
