EDGELEY, Sask. – A Saskatchewan man is lifeless after the street upkeep car he was driving collided with a train on Thursday afternoon.
It occurred about three kilometres west of Edgeley, Sask. at a degree crossing round 12 p.m. Thursday about one kilometre north of Freeway 364.
Police say the truck was driving southbound and was hit by the eastbound train at a degree crossing.
The person was declared lifeless on the scene. No different accidents had been reported to police.
A spokesperson for Canadian Nationwide Railway says about 18 rail automobiles left the tracks, which induced a small spill of an unknown substance.
Mounties say preliminary reviews counsel some gasoline could have leaked.
The spokesperson says there are not any reviews of any fires.
The derailment’s trigger is being investigated.
RCMP, CN police and environmental consultants stay on the scene.
