Manufacturer confirms: Production of Punica juices stopped months ago
PepsiCo has confirmed that production of its popular Punica juices will cease entirely in September 2022. The products will therefore soon disappear from German shelves.
The rumors have been circulating for a few weeks, now PepsiCo has confirmed to CHIP that the production of the popular Punica juices was stopped in September 2022. After around 45 years, the end of the brand is finally sealed.
The products are therefore currently only available from many dealers in remaining stocks. Once these are sold, the Punica bottles will no longer be available.
Punica production is discontinued: the cult brand looks back on an eventful history
Punica came onto the German market for the first time in 1977 as a brand of Dittmeyer GmbH. This was taken over by Procter & Gamble in 1984, and in 2004 Punica was sold to the American investor JW Childs. In 2005, the brand went to PepsiCo, who eventually sold Punica to private equity firm PAI Partners in 2022.
There, the juice division was integrated into the Tropicana Brands Group before the final decision was made in September 2022 to stop producing Punica and to discontinue the brand.
