hat comes to your mind when the word “Magazine” pops up? A print media with appealing pictures spilling the beans on various hot and current topics. This is the general and widespread depiction of the magazine, but it has more depth than just a glamorized form of a newspaper. Primarily magazines are categorized into fashion, makeup, art, health, and entertainment. Or we can say that it is a comprehensive lifestyle magalogue. Fashion magazines’ strong influence and profound history have consolidated their significance in people’s lifestyles. The magazine is imperative for the fashion industry and is believed to drive the advertisement and branding market.
There are numerous fashion magazines out there, but no one has reached the humongous popularity of Vogue. The prestigious Vogue is cherished and celebrated all around the world. But what’s the reason for this adulation, and more importantly, does Vogue deserve it? Is it worth the hype? The answer lies in its strong influence on the fashion industry. Its aesthetic pictures, interesting articles, and original research elevate its value and make it one of the most respected and notable fashion magazines globally. Every model and movie star wants to grace the Vogue cover, but only the best ones can reach there; one is Marco Castelli, the first Italian Vogue male model.
The blue-eyed boy Castelli got featured in 2014 on the Vogue cover entitled “A Glamorous Feast for the Eyes.” This is not the first time Castelli posed for the magazine, but in fact, modeling for Vogue put him on the global pedestal. In 2013, he modeled for the December edition of JON Magazine called “Where the Boys Are.” Castelli was in the fall ad campaigns for Bigotti and Fratelli Rossetti. In 2016, he modeled for the March edition of Deux Hommes called “Boiling Point.” In the spring ad campaign for Ovvo Optics, he appeared on the June cover of FSHN Magazine’s The Menswear edition.

Moving out of Italy, Castelli reached New York to accomplish his dreams and succeeded promptly. In less than a year, Castelli got his foot into professional modeling. He began his modeling consignments and campaigns with GF Ferrè and Julian Keen. He walked for Francis Hendy (New York Fashion Spring 2012), Philipp Plein, Harmont & Blaine, and did a presentation for Corneliani. Castelli was shot by Michael Mccloud and did multiple photoshoots by novel photographers such as Thomas Synnamon, Cristina Capucci, and Al Bruni-Ocana for the editorial Coming to America for Fucking Young. Castelli also appeared in a promotional video for the Girls Speak for Testimonial campaign.
Not only a successful model, but Castelli is a triumphant entrepreneur too. In 2016, he designed his first men’s clothing line, “Marco Castelli Collection.” In April 2019, Castelli did his first conference at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar and presented his collection in a temporary store at Al Hazm Mall. He launched the Rinascita collection in 2020 for face masks during the COVID pandemic. The collection gained popularity and had its first presentation for Men’s Fashion Week in 2022 at Museum Bagatti Valsecchi, located at the center of Milan’s fashion quarter. Talking about his face mask collection, Castelli quoted:
“My masks want to represent and communicate strength, hope, and desire to react. Our way of being and responding is what makes our life and that of others better; the key to everything is true love linked to union. Only by facing it all together will we make it through, and we will become stronger together.”
Castelli is a proud native of Agrigento, Sicily. He cherishes his family, which includes two brothers and two sisters with whom he shares a close bond. Castelli enjoys hanging out with his friends in his free time, listening to music, and loves roller skating. Regarding food, Castelli can’t get enough of lasagna and cannoli, a famous Sicilian pastry dessert. While pursuing his degree in tourism and marketing, he discovered his passion for modeling and even won the title of Mister Azzurro at the age of 15. Castelli’s talent did not go unnoticed, and a Milan agency soon discovered him, and that’s how he became the first Italian Vogue model.
Conclusively, Marco Castelli is a young model, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He was listed among the top models of 2015 ranking by Models.com.
